TEFRA - Compact Quick Coupler

Safety, efficiency and savings in installation and maintenance are the guiding principles of TEFRA hydraulic quick couplers. Designed to increase safety and efficiency at work, TEFRA quick couplers adapt to machines ranging from 3-ton mini-excavators to large excavators of up to 120 tons of any brand on the market.

Primary Locking System

The dual safety features of the TEFRA are unique within the attachment industry. The primary safety system consists of a uniquely designed set of hooks powered by a single cylinder and high specification hydraulic controls that lock the attachment securely in place. The intrinsic feature of the hooks is their shape - they are individually designed to tightly hold their respective pins against the body of the coupler. This secure and fail-safe retention ensures that the attachment stays in place in all orientations and operating conditions.

Secondary Locking System

Its Active Protection System (APS) consists of 2 powerful springs that apply pressure to the hooks, ensuring retention at all times. A monolaminate spring exerts constant pressure on the front hook. This sturdy and compact spring ensures that the hook remains fixed at all times. A compression spring performs exactly the same function in relation to the rear hook. Both springs have a very high individual rating in terms of strength and safety requirements; moreover, they are as lightweight as possible in a continuous effort to achieve "weightless strength" across all product ranges.

Smart Valve

A unique, patented major safety feature of the TEFRA Coupler. The Smart Valve is a simple, patented, totally effective solution ensuring that the attachment and release sequence cannot be started until the Coupler is orientated towards the operator and close to the ground. This eliminates the possibility of an unsafe situation occurring. The Smart Valve’s compact design means it can be totally enclosed within the hydraulic cylinder at the centre of the coupler; this protected position means it cannot be contaminated. It requires no routine maintenance and works in conjunction with other warning systems such as audible indicators to ensure safe and easy operation.

Additional to this, the HKS XtraTilt Power Actuator is self-lubricating and essentially maintenance free, so that you are able to concentrate on the important tasks. There can be no damage to tilt cylinders and failure of their connecting parts, such as fastening bolts and bushes, because the power actuator has none of these.
